Choral Music
We see music as a vital part of our worship, offered to God as its only worthy object: intended for building up the church body. Worship music has its focus on God’s character, attributes, and actions in us and for us, enhancing our thankfulness, praise, worship, and glory only to Him.
The best texts for worship music are from Scripture (e.g., the Psalms). Also, texts not copied from Scripture but scriptural in content, serve well. The melodies and harmonies to be used need to be worthy of the text, and so support and enhance it. While all believers should sing (at least in their hearts), not all are gifted to be choral singers. The following groups exist within Bellewood at present—
Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir is involved in worship services most Sundays from September through June. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings as well as other times as needed. Contact Jerry Hedman if interested.
Songbirds
The Songbirds is a group for girls/young ladies, ages 7 – 18. Songbirds frequently participate on Sunday mornings, and are often invited to special events. Rehearsals are at 9:00 am every Sunday (except in the summer). Contact Jessica Faber or Jerry Hedman if interested.
Youth Ensemble
We value and seek to foster the active participation of our chidren and youth in the worship service. One means of this is the periodic leading of the congregation in an appropriate and contemporary worship song (e.g., "Shout to the Lord," "Better Is One Day"). Rehearsals are typically at 10:30 on Sunday mornings (as needed). Contact Pastor John Day if interested.
